So what do you do to combat perpetual paper loss? I have handouts for most major assignments, and my students lose them on a regular basis. It annoys me to no end, and besides, I feel like I'm babying them if I provide "refills." On the other hand, according to the state standards, I'm not supposed to be grading them on organizational skills (well, other than in their writing *g*).
I'm hoping that my binder/notebook system for next term will help to take care of some of this.
What do you think?

Folders sound like a great idea. Could you post the handouts electronically somewhere so they can print another copy at home? I'd probably keep extra handouts on hand for them anyway...I get irritated when I give my students something and they carelessly leave them behind because they don't think it's important--even if it's an assignment due the next day! Feeling your pain...
For major assignments that I know will be referred to often, I usually make a poster that I put up in the room. If they lose the handout, I have them copy the poster. After they have copied it once or twice, they usuallyd don't lose it again.
I keep everything as a download on my class page. They can print as many as they want.
