Ooooooh, very creepy book! Humbert Humbert's voice is achieved to perfection. Nabokov was a true genius (my favorite, though, is Pale Fire).
FWIW, I didn't find it a slow read at all -- I thought it was incredibly compelling (part of what creeped me out).
Oh, it's very well written. Humbert Humbert is loathsome, but what a gift with language Nabokov had!
It's lyrical. Disturbing, but lyrical. Humbert Humbert is one of the great evil villains in literature. I recall it being a fairly easy read, all things considered.
