Blih.

HOW do people do it? Seriously. I mean, we don't have kids. And I STILL have difficulty juggling everything. It's like - I can keep up with Journalism, or with English, but not with both. If I try to keep up with both classes, I can manage lesson plans or grading, but not both.

And don't get me started on the house. I can keep the laundry washed, or I can get it put away...

But not both.

I'm already thinking about changing my Expectations poster for next year. Right now, they say:

1. Work Hard
2. Be Kind
3. Follow Directions

I'm thinking of changing that to

1. Work Effectively
2. Be Kind Always (because I don't think Be Kind No Matter What will fit in the space I have for the poster!)
3. Follow Directions

Whaddaya think?

I sympathize. Prepping three different classes leaves my house a war zone. I folded laundry the other night... it is still sitting on the couch.

Yeah, I have to come to compromise with myself FAR more often than I'm comfortable with; I totally get the frustration.

I think you have to give up sleeping. I've changed from a five preps a day to just one and I'm still having trouble fitting everything in that I want to do.

Already exhausted after only 2 days back & no kids yet. I'm still adjusting to "Teacher Time." I'll have to get back to ya on that!

I can't keep up with anything either and it's only Day 3 with the kids. Just when I think I have a handle on newspaper, yearbook implodes. If I get yearbook back on track, then newspaper takes a dive and that doesn't even address my J-1 class or my photojournalism class. And my house? Well, CRAP FIRE!, I swear the dust bunnies are doing a dance while I'm gone. And laundry? Are you kidding me? Jeez…

When I figure out how to keep it all together, I'll be doing it!

Three days back and I'm exhausted. I am SO GLAD a student showed up today wanting to be my student assistant. Sometimes S.A.
s are kids who need extra mentoring and attention, and that's true for this kid, but he's also bright enough to actually do simple grading. Whee!

I can't do it all. If I'm doing one thing really well, there's another thing that is totally stinkin'! Over the years, I've tried to balance it more, but I can't figure it out.

Oh, and my publications staff is off to the wrong start because I want to try to capture some first reactions to our new school opening, but my staff has NO CLUE about ANYTHING. Well, three of them do, but that's not enough. So I must be smokin' crack to send them out to talk to PEOPLE without a little training. So...we know which part of my life is stinkin' now!
