Well, my donorschoose proposal passed inspection and has been posted. This is the first time I've done something like this. It feels a *little* weird, cuz I know it'd cost less if I bought them used on amazon!
I requested about 15 YA novels as alternate choices to The Giver. Last semester I told students that they could use these books if they went and checked them out from the library - but of course no one did. I'm hoping that having more direct access to the books will make a difference. I hope I'm not just spinning my wheels, so to speak. Well, if nothing else, I've learned how to write a proposal!
I worked really hard on the proposal, and it didn't get accepted on the first go-round, alas. I kind of let it go to the side while trying to keep my (grrr!) yearbook staff on track. Anyway, a few months later, I got an email newsletter from the program that offered an incentive, so I buckled down and revised the proposal and sent it back in. I don't really think it's any BETTER, but I guess they just wanted more specifics about the lesson that involved the materials.
Why does it feel so awkward to ask for stuff?

Congrats on getting the proposal accepted. Do let us know how the program goes; it'll be interesting to see if any of your students chooses to get an alternative novel.
*grin* Well, it's ACCEPTED but not yet FUNDED. ;) We'll see what happens! ;D
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Keep us updated and let us know when (not if) you get it funded!
