EVERYTHING is my fault

*glare*

So yesterday I get an email and a phone message from the main office asking me to call a parent about the senior edition of the local newspaper. Apparently the honor graduates were left out entirely.

Now, keep in mind, I'm in charge of the school publications - the school newspaper and the yearbook. After we get done with the senior portraits, I send the image CD over to the newspaper. They take care of everything else.

Well, apparently, the paper left out a whole section of seniors from the special edition that they run right before graduation. And people are calling the school and asking how I could have let this happen.

Today, DURING FINALS, I get a call from the main office asking me to call one of our APs about the situation. AP has also been contacted by angry parents and wants to know how I could have let this happen.

WTF, people? seriously? SERIOUSLY?

Now, granted, I realize that you may not know what all is my responsibility and what isn't. But maybe, just maybe it would be a good idea to get your facts straight BEFORE assigning blame.

In the words of Jon Stewart: Go f* yourself.

Geez. I hope you were able to get the AP to see that.

So I gather from your comment on my post that the answer to this question was "no." Ugh. Well, unfortunately, I have a distaste for administration. I tried it last year as dept. head and even that small bit was excruciating.

Probably one of the worst parts of being a publication adviser is dealing with administrators who don't know what it is you do. The seem to go back and forth between thinking I know nothing and I know everything. I am either super-tech guy who can create all kinds of media by snapping my fingers or I am a total idiot who can't keep his kids in line and is the master of paparazzi yellow journalism. Go figure.

While *I* was not able to convince the AP, a conversation with someone at the local paper pinpointed the problem and did exonerate me. (This time.)

*sigh*

Let me guess: no apology either.

hahahaha... you know, that hadn't even occurred to me. *sigh* And I think that's even sadder than the fact that I didn't get one.
