I am exceptionally tired this morning. It is the ninth day of the new semester. I had a student come in this morning with a note for his absence over the past three days. In all, he has missed six days of instruction. I have another student in the same situation. When they're here, they do good work. But if they're never here, how can they improve their skills? How will they understand the works we're reading and studying in class if they're not here to read and study with us?

So, clearly, I have two parent calls that I HAVE to make today. *sigh* I hope things can change...
